Instructions
1: Thaw, clean, and wipe down the banana leaves with a paper towel. Tear a few sheets into thin strips for tying the dumplings and set aside. 2: Marinate the pork belly and shrimp separately with the filling seasoning ingredients. 3: Spray a large pan with cooking oil and heat at medium-high. Add the pork belly and cook for 3 minutes or until no longer pink. 4: Add the marinated shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow to cool. 5: To make the batter, combine the flour and 1 teaspoon salt in a heatproof bowl, reserving 1/4 flour for later. 6: In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to boil. Gradually pour about 3 cups into the flour while mixing quickly. Adjust with more water for the right consistency and knead until smooth. 7: Take a small amount of dough and form it into a ball (about 2.5 inches in diameter). Flatten it, add the pork and shrimp filling, and pleat the edges to close the dumpling. 8: Wrap the dumplings in banana leaves, twist closed, and tie 2 together using banana leaf strips. 9: Steam dumplings in batches for 10 minutes. Allow to cool before peeling and eating. 10: Serve with nuoc mam cham.View original recipe
